THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO STOPPED BY OUR BOOTH AND TRIED OR BOUGHT SOME HOT SAUCE THIS WEEKEND! We had just as great a time as last year and will be posting pics soon… stay tuned.
We had so much fun last year we’re doing it again! Horsetooth Hot Sauce will bring its rockin’ booth back to the Taste of Fort Collins this weekend - June 13 and 14th.
Come on down, hang out with the Hot Dawgs and sample our three new sauces! Eat a fiery whole habanero if you dare and get a free bottle of your favorite Horsetooth Hot Sauce! There will be music from local bands as well as tunes from Sugar Ray and the Gin Blossoms in the evening.
We don’t care what the weather forecast says - we’re bringing the heat!!
The Taste of Fort Collins - Civic Center Park. 11-9 Saturday and 11-7 Sunday. Show up before 3pm and tickets are only $5 to get in ($10 after 3pm). See you there!

Not for the faint of heart, Rubin’s XXX is a spicier, steamier, sizzlier version of Rubin’s Red, our irresistible black pepper and garlic cayenne sauce. Rubin gets all fired up in this NC-17 version,tossing intense red habaneros into the mix for tongue-blasting heat that should come with a parental warning. Rubin’s XXX – because one X just wasn’t enough.
The Green is already available in select stores and restaurants around town and Rubin’s XXX will be soon (as soon as we get the labels in). You can also pick some up Saturday and Sunday at the Drake Rd. Farmers Market and the Harmony Fort Collins Farmers Market.
Whole Foods and Farmer’s Markets!

Nothing like absence to make the heart grown fonder, right? Well, our heart is REALLY fond of the blog right now… There’s been a lot going on at Horsetooth Hot Sauce this year. So much so that we’ve been totally slacking on blog updates. But we’re back in action now and ready to roll.
We’ve got a lot of exciting news! We got into Whole Foods Market in March and you can currently find us on the shelves in the Fort Collins store (on College Ave.) and the Pearl St. and Baseline stores in Boulder. We’re set to invade Denver next, so be on the lookout for Horsetooth Hot Sauce in your favorite Whole Foods Colorado store soon. Better yet, ask for it by name when you shop (that will speed the process)!
Whole Foods isn’t our only new venture - we’re also in several new stores and restaurants in Fort Collins, Loveland and Boulder. Check out McCoy’s Breakfast Cafe in Fort Collins, Ideal Market in Boulder, Loveland Albertson’s, The Back Porch and the Hideaway (both in Fort Collins). We’re working hard to make sure you never have to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner again without Horsetooth Hot Sauce!

There has never been a braver girl in Horsetooth Hot Sauce history than Kaitlyn, our honorary Pepper Picker. Not only does she love Horsetooth Hot Sauce but she loves The “O” Face orange habaneros a la carte, too. She ate a giant orange habanero - something that would make the most muscled man cry - and lived to tell about it.

Hot Sauce Helps You Burn More Fat!

We eat it because it tastes so darn good, but you may want to eat it as part of a healthy fat-burning diet. That’s right - hot sauce helps you burn fat! An article on MSNBC is claiming that Capsaicin, the chemical responsible for hot pepper’s heat, lowers insulin and burns fat.

In a study of 36 men and women, Australian researchers found that following a spicy meal, levels of insulin — the hormone that triggers body fat storage — were lowered by as much as 32 percent. One theory: Capsaicin, the chemical that gives chiles their fire, may improve the body’s ability to clear insulin from the bloodstream after you eat, so you’re more likely to burn fat following a meal spiked with chile peppers than after one that isn’t packing heat.”

Horsetooth Hot Sauce at New West Fest This Weekend!

Come rain or come shine (most likely rain thanks to the stalled-out storm over Northern Colorado), Fort Collins’ annual music festival, New West Fest/Bohemian Nights, is gonna be hot. As in spicy hot.
Old Town Fort Collins is going to be on fire this weekend (August 16th and 17th) with great music and lots of Horsetooth Hot Sauce. Come on down and try all three flavors - The “O” Face, Naughty #4, and Rubin’s Red. We’ll be on the scene with samples, tortilla chips, hot peppers, giveaways, and bottle after bottle of the fiery flavor.
After you show us your “O” Face, stick around to hear the legendary Taj Mahal Trio headline Saturday night on the main stage. And don’t forget to come back for more on Sunday - Little Feat is playing from 4:30 - 6:00. There will also be 60 other bands to check out over the weekend - and it’s all free. And you know what that means - you’ll have more money to buy hot sauce!

No Jalapenos in Horsetooth Hot Sauce!

On the heels of the latest FDA warning not to buy fresh jalapenos or products made with fresh jalapenos, Horsetooth Hot Sauce wants to assure you that we do not use jalapenos of any kind in any of our sauces.
We use only cayenne, habanero, and scotch bonnet peppers in our sauces - none of which have been tainted by salmonella. We don’t use tomatoes, either - so we’re 2 for 2 in the war against bacteria.
Just another reason to use Horsetooth Hot Sauce - we promise it won’t make you sick! It might make you sweat a little (okay, maybe a lot), but it certainly won’t make you sick.
p.s. A great alternative to purchasing suspect produce from foreign countries is to buy local at your local farmer’s market! And don’t forget to wash all produce thoroughly - even the pre-washed variety.
